Art & Science of Risk Assessment in the Americas

As one of only a handful of US reinsurers providing capacity for both very large and substandard cases, SCOR Global Life Americas depends on its team of highly motivated, experienced underwriters in both domestic and foreign markets to perform both the science and art of underwriting.

Our underwriters are experienced, with technical capabilities to assess complex and/or large medical and financial risks, including

  • Medical knowledge, to understand implications of complex impairments in high-risk medical cases
  • Financial knowledge, to be aware of possible factors in large face amount cases
  • Regulatory knowledge, to be aware of and understand state laws governing insurance.

Successful underwriters have strong interpersonal skills, capable of communicating complex decisions to client company underwriters, management and the sales team. Underwriters work in teams, seeking ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Critical thinking skills and flexible problem solving are hallmarks of these employees.
