Philippe joined SCOR Global Life (Canada) in 2003 as Senior Underwriting Consultant. He was promoted to his current position in 2016. Instrumental in the revision of SCOR Global Life
worldwide financial underwriting guidelines in 2009, he currently works closely
with the Canadian sales team.
Philippe has more than 35 years of Canadian and international reinsurance underwriting experience, having begun his reinsurance career with Munich Re in 1977, in Munich and subsequently working in Paris and Montréal. He holds an insurance degree from the German Insurance Academy (Deutsche Versicherungsakademie) and in 1996 wrote his final study paper on “Financial Statement Analysis for the Non-Professional Reader.”
Philippe has previously served on the Executive Committee of the Canadian Institute of Underwriters (2011 – 2013) and the Montreal Educational Committee of the Association Québécoise des Tarificateurs-Vie (1999 – 2007).
He has also presented on medical and non-medical underwriting topics for the Canadian Reinsurance Conference, the Academy of Life Underwriting, the AQTV, the CIU, the Underwriting Associations of Toronto and Winnipeg, and for nearly a decade lectured at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQÀM) to first-year actuarial students on the principles of life insurance underwriting.
He has published underwriting-related articles in On The Risk (The Journal of the Academy of Life Underwriting) and L’Assurance Française.
