Jennifer Miller,

Jennifer graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She worked in the NICU at St. Jo’s hospital in London prior to entering the insurance industry in late 1996.

Throughout her underwriting career, Jennifer has had many interesting opportunities for varied experiences, including the development and implementation of successful Life and Critical Illness training programs, Audit programs for both internal and external use, several speaking engagements, mentoring, people leadership and underwriting manual developments at both the cedant/direct and reinsurance company level.

Jennifer joined SCOR in 2016 as a Senior Underwriting Consultant and was subsequently promoted to Director, Underwriting in Canada, later in 2016. She manages several underwriters in addition to managing workflow, participation in RFPs, projects, mentoring and production underwriting cases for the Canadian Life and Critical Illness markets. She assists with the development and revision of SCOR Global Life Canada's risk selection guidelines and other underwriting programs & processes, including the development, implementation and documentation of consistent underwriting practices, controls and procedures aligning with those of SCOR's Underwriting Division.

Jennifer also participates in direct supervision, management and motivation of several underwriting staff in the Canadian market in order to provide accurate and timely appraisal of facultative reinsurance cases as well as assists in implementing market specific underwriting practices. She assists and works directly with Canadian clients in order to assist in the deal process to foster strong relationships and develop innovative solutions that meet clients’ needs to achieve results within risk management objectives. Additionally Jennifer actively participates in client auditing.

Jennifer has more than 20 years of industry experience at both the direct and reinsurance level and actively participates in industry events and seminars. She has underwriting experience in international markets including the USA, Bermuda, Bahamas and Barbados and underwrites Life, Critical Illness, Group and Structured Settlement cases. She has been appointed as Administrative Editor for On The Risk magazine in 2018, for which she will manage the international editorial group.
